The leaves on the trees have finally popped! Summer is almost here. That means that Club Sports Alaska is gearing up for our summer soccer kick off on May 28th! If you haven’t registered, you still can!

If you have registered, you might be wondering what you’ll need for the season. CSA provides each athlete with a jersey and soccer socks. In addition to these items, you will need soccer cleats, shin guards, a soccer ball and black shorts. These items might seem simple, but there are actually a few specifics you’ll need to know when picking these out!

When choosing soccer cleats you’ll want to be sure that they fit snuggly. Allow for a pinkie-finger width of space between the toe and the end of the shoe. Make sure they are actually soccer cleats and DO NOT have a toe spike.

There are several different shin guard options available, but we recommend the ankle shin guard style. They provide the most protection during practice and game. Shin guards should cover just below the knee to about 1” above the top of your soccer cleat.

Soccer balls come in different sizes based on age. Check out the chart for details on the right size ball for your player.

Lastly, you will need black shorts based on your athlete’s preference.
